Frederick John Perry, a tennis player from Stockport, England, founded "Fred Perry" in 1952, naming it after his nickname.
Frederick John Perry was one of the top players of his time, achieving three consecutive Wimbledon championships from 1934 to 1936 and the first-ever Grand Slam, earning him the title "God of British Tennis."
With the laurel wreath mark, which is still inherited today, as its icon, the brand manufactured sweatbands and shirts as a tennis wear brand, captivating many tennis players. In the 1960s, led by Paul Weller, it influenced musicians and street fashion, such as mods, skinheads, and casuals of the time. Even today, many musicians still favor Fred Perry.
