KANGOL
KANGOL was established in 1938 by Jacques Spreiregen in Cleator, Cumbria, UK.The company and brand name, KANGOL, is derived from the names of hat materials: "K" from KNITTING, "ANG" from ANGORA, and "OL" from WOOL.
Its history began with the manufacture of military berets and hats for the royal family.
It also expanded into the fashion industry, where luxurious women's hats were particularly popular at the time, gaining recognition as a high-fashion item. In the 1960s, it collaborated with popular designers such as Mary Quant and Pierre Cardin, and adorned the heads of The Beatles, Arnold Palmer, and later, Princess Diana.
In the 1980s, as hip-hop culture emerged from New York, originators of rap and graffiti began wearing KANGOL hats, leading to a huge boom.
It was at this time, in 1983 in New York, that the "Kangaroo mark," which has since become the brand's iconic symbol, was born.
In 1992, KANGOL launched fashion items other than hats in Japan, ahead of the rest of the world.
It had a significant impact on the street scene at the time, becoming known as a street casual brand.
Subsequently, it gained popularity among many celebrities, becoming a globally recognized brand.
KANGOL continues to evolve, constantly blending British tradition with contemporary culture.
