KANGOL

KANGOL was established in 1938 by Jacques Spreiregen in Cleator, Cumbria, UK.
The name KANGOL, which is both the company and brand name, was derived from the materials used in hats: 'K' from KNITTING, 'ANG' from ANGORA, and 'OL' from WOOL.
The brand began its history by manufacturing military berets and hats for the Royal Family.
It also expanded into the fashion industry, where luxury women's hats were particularly popular at the time, and its recognition as a high-fashion item grew. In the 1960s, it collaborated with popular designers like Mary Quant and Pierre Cardin, and adorned the heads of the Beatles, Arnold Palmer, and later, Princess Diana.
In the 1980s, as hip-hop culture emerged from New York, originators of rap and graffiti began wearing KANGOL hats, leading to a huge boom.
It was at this time that the "Kangaroo mark," now considered the brand's iconic symbol, was created in New York in 1983.
In 1992, fashion items other than hats were first introduced in Japan.
This had a tremendous influence on the street scene of the time, and the brand became known as a street casual brand.
Subsequently, it gained popularity among many celebrities and became a globally renowned brand.
KANGOL continues to evolve, blending British tradition with contemporary culture.
