KANGOL
KANGOL was established in 1938 by Jacques Spreiregen in Cleator, Cumbria, UK.The company and brand name, KANGOL, derives from the names of hat materials: "K" from KNITTING, "ANG" from ANGORA, and "OL" from WOOL.
Its history began with the manufacturing of military berets and hats for the royal family.
Venturing into the fashion industry, the brand's popular high-end women's hats gained recognition as high-fashion items. In the 1960s, KANGOL collaborated with popular designers like Mary Quant and Pierre Cardin, and adorned the heads of The Beatles, Arnold Palmer, and later, Princess Diana.
In the 1980s, with the emergence of hip-hop culture in New York, originators of rap and graffiti began wearing KANGOL hats, leading to a huge boom.
This led to the birth of the "Kangaroo mark," now an iconic symbol of the brand, in New York in 1983.
In 1992, KANGOL launched non-hat fashion items in Japan, pioneering their global expansion.
This greatly influenced the street scene at the time, establishing KANGOL as a renowned street casual brand.
Subsequently, it gained popularity among numerous celebrities, becoming a globally recognized brand.
KANGOL continues to evolve, constantly blending British tradition with contemporary culture.
