The "fully integrated molding (PVC)", which connects the upper and sole with a single molecular structure, boasts an unyielding toughness that prevents the thong from ever coming loose during intense activity, overwhelming grip on wet decks, and high self-cleaning properties that prevent water absorption. We didn't name it ourselves; rather, it was the fishermen of Ogasawara and other seafarers who, out of respect and familiarity for its overwhelming slip resistance and toughness, began calling it "Gyosan" (short for "gyogyo jujisha-yo sandaru," or "sandals for fishery workers")—a true testament to users defining its value.
