PEARL Gyosan "Fluorescent Yellow"

Sale price¥1,650

The Calypso model of "Gyosan," a one-piece molded sandal that has supported the feet of professionals for over half a century, brings together the best of Marunaka Kogyosho's domestic production technology.
Its "complete one-piece molded (PVC resin)" structure was built by refining only practicality, ensuring the "safety" and "survival" of professionals working in Japan's harsh aquatic environments.
Unlike typical flip-flops, the thong is structurally designed to completely eliminate the problem of it coming off during walking or intense movement.
It uses a uniquely blended, high-quality domestic PVC (polyvinyl chloride).
This provides tough durability, an appropriate weight, and an outstanding fit that adheres firmly to the sole of the foot.
This footwear steadfastly embodies "functional beauty as a tool," reverse-engineered from the need for safety and survival in harsh aquatic environments.

PEARL

The "Gyosan" sandals made by Marunaka Kogyosho's PEARL brand are the ultimate in minimalism, born from a focus solely on practicality to ensure the "safety" and "survival" of professionals working in Japan's harsh aquatic environments.
For over half a century, Marunaka Kogyosho has consistently maintained the universal design of its domestically produced sandals through rigorous mold and molding control by Nara craftsmen.
The "fully integrated molding (PVC)", which connects the upper and sole with a single molecular structure, boasts incredible strength that prevents the thong from ever coming off even during intense movement, overwhelming grip that holds onto wet decks, and high self-cleaning properties that absorb no water whatsoever.
It wasn't us who named them; rather, the fishermen of Ogasawara and other people who make their living from the sea began calling them "Gyogyo Jūjisha-yō Sandaru = Gyosan" (sandals for fishery workers) out of respect and familiarity for their overwhelming slip resistance and toughness. This is a true origin story where the users defined the value.
Without being swept away by the waves of trends, Marunaka Kogyosho continues to maintain the tough cutting and robust practicality it perfected from the very beginning.
From everyday wear to the most demanding environments, we will continue to faithfully deliver these unchanging sandals, which epitomize the beauty of utility.
