The "fully integrated molding (PVC)" construction, where the upper and sole are connected as a single molecular structure, boasts an unyielding strength that prevents the thong from ever detaching even during intense activity, an overwhelming grip on wet decks, and high self-cleaning properties that prevent water absorption.
This isn't a name we gave it ourselves; rather, fishermen and seafarers in Ogasawara, out of respect and affection for their exceptional anti-slip properties and toughness, began calling them "gyogyo jushajyo sandaru = gyosan" (sandals for fishery workers)—a true lineage where the users defined the product's value.
