A knitting method that alternates between knit and purl stitches every stitch.
It is also called "flat knitting" or "rib knitting."
In English, the stitches are likened to ribs and called "rib."
It is characterized by excellent elasticity in the horizontal direction, and Gicipi's products have a moderate weight and a gentle drape.
Furthermore, because the fabric is pre-washed and tumble-dried, there is no shrinkage in the finished product.

gicipi

gicipi began as an original brand of Maglificio Gicipi, a company founded in 1948.
The company operates its own factory in the town of PADOVA in northern Italy, where vintage machines have been actively running for nearly 70 years.
Since its establishment, gicipi has been committed to creating products that prioritize the feel of "natural fibers" and the "quality-first" approach of careful and reliable craftsmanship.
PADOVA has long flourished as a production base for apparel products, with many factories producing suits, outerwear, knitwear, innerwear, pants, jeans, shoes, glasses, and more, all boasting world-class quality.
gicipi is an integrated factory, a rare entity today, that handles everything from fabric knitting to pattern making, cutting, sewing, dyeing, and finishing, all in its own factory.
By maintaining this integrated process, gicipi can closely manage quality and delivery times, allowing it to continue offering high-quality products at affordable prices, just as it did when it was founded.
Currently, the variety of yarns handled has increased, and fibers such as cotton, various types of wool, silk, and linen are now being made into products.
Currently, gicipi does not subcontract for external brands but sells its own brand products to department stores and lingerie specialty stores throughout Italy.
